Abstract
1361882 Reforming catalyst PULLMAN Inc 1 March 1972 [4 March 1971] 9566/72 Heading B1E [Also in Division C5] A catalyst composition is a solid mixture comprising zirconia, nickel as metal or oxide in an amount of at least 0.1% wt. calculated as oxide, cobalt as metal or oxide in an amount of at least 0.2% wt. calculated as the oxide, the combined amount of nickel and cobalt being at least 1.0 wt. % and the ni:Co ratio being 1:15 to 9:1. Suitably, there is 0.2-30% wt cobalt, 0.1 to 30% wt nickel, a total of nickel and cobalt of 1.5 to 25 wt %, a Ni : Co ratio of 1:10 to 6:1 and the remainder of the composition is substantially zirconia. The Examples describe compositions in which the metals are initially in oxide form but which are reduced with hydrogen before use and in which the zirconia contains small amounts of calcium oxide, silica, titania and ferric oxide.
