Abstract
1361761 Mass spectrometers HEWLETTPACKARD CO 12 Jan 1972 [8 Feb 1971] 1488/72 Heading H1D A multipole mass filter comprises parallel main electrodes 12, 14, 16, 18, opposing pairs being connected in common to one pole of a drive circuit 20 providing antiphase outputs having direct and alternating current components, and between the main electrodes auxiliary electrodes 22 to each of which an adjustable D.C. voltage can be applied from sources 36. In Fig. 1 two flattened tubes form the auxiliary electrodes 22 between each pair of main electrodes and the two tubes nearest each main electrode are strapped together. Insulators 24 separate the tubes. A pair of radially spaced electrodes may be provided, Fig. 6 (not shown). In Figs. 7 to 9 (not shown) auxiliary electrodes in the form of rectangular strips, combs and bifilar helices are illustrated.
