Abstract

1361018 Aliphatic carboxylic acid chlorides BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 24 Nov 1971 [25 Nov 1970] 54533/71 Heading C2C Aliphatic carboxylic acid chlorides are prepared by reacting the corresponding acid with phosgene in the presence of an N,N-dialkyl carboxamide and less than 0À2 mole of the product per mole of starting carboxylic acid at temperatures above 90‹ C., in the liquid phase, and in the absence of additional organic solvent. Suitable starting materials are acetic, mono-, di- and trichloroacetic, C 2 to C 18 carboxylic, and α-nitropropionic acids. The products are used as starting materials for solvents, odorants, plasticizers, detergents, mordants and pesticides.
