Abstract

1360878 Identifying blood cells GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 27 Oct 1971 [30 Oct 1970] 49900/71 Heading G1B A method of staining a blood sample for microscopic examination wherein reticulocytes, platelets and white blood cells are simultaneously but differentially stained comprises applying a blood sample to a dried film formed from a mixture of dyes comprising methylene Blue N and cresyl violet acetate. Preferably the mixture contains 92% methylene blue and 8% cresyl violet, dissolved in methanol and applied to a glass slide. The Specification describes the staining of neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, platelets and reticulocytes.
