Abstract

1360732 Pipe couplings L ADAMS Ltd 16 Nov 1972 [7 Jan 1972] 822/72 Heading F2G In a quick release coupling, for pairs of coaxial pipes, radial pins 36 are locked in T-shaped bayonet slots 8, 9, by axial slide bars 10 attached to a spring-urged ring 12. As the pins 36 move along the open-ended arms 9 of the Ts, they push the bars 10 back, against the action of a spring 14, until they can be turned to enter the stems 8 of the Ts. In so doing, they clear the the ends of the bars 10, which are thus free to be returned past the open ends of the stems 8, trapping the pins 36 therein. A mechanical pulse or click, produced as ring 12 strikes stop portion 13, indicates to the user that the coupling has been properly made. The coupling may be employed for connecting air crew breathing apparatus to an oxygen supply and inner tubes 4 and 21, which are carried by flexible resilient spiders 16, then transmit a signal pressure to control an oxygen regulator.
