Abstract

1360614 Chucks WICKMAN MACHINE TOOL SALES Ltd 16 Sept 1971 [17 Oct 1970] 49423/70 Heading B3B A collet for a chuck having a hollow body 10 and a plurality of angularly spaced jaws 14 having outer surfaces 14b which are inclined relative to the longitudinal axis of the body to coact with a complementary inclined surface of a surrounding part, is characterized by the body 10 being provided with internal abutments 13, a plurality of rubber segments 16 bonded to the body, and the jaws 14 being bonded between adjacent segments and having means, e.g. pins 15, for co-action with the abutments 13 to limit relative axial movement between the jaws and body. The abutments on the body may be grooves to receive the pins, or the jaws may have grooves to coact with a shoulder on the body. One of the jaws may have an external key for co-operation with the surrounding part for positive drive.
