1360457 Amino acid derivatives BEECHAM GROUP Ltd 2 Oct 1972 [9 Oct 1971] 47099/71 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds having the general Formula (I) or an acid addition salt thereof wherein R, R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> which may be the same or different, are hydrogen, halogen, trifluoromethyl, C 1 -C 6 alkyl, amino, nitro, hydroxy or OR<SP>8</SP> where R<SP>8</SP> is C 1 -C 6 alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or acyl; R<SP>5</SP> is hydrogen or C 1 -C 6 alkyl; R<SP>6</SP> is a straight or branched chain C 1 -C 6 alkylene group, and R<SP>7</SP> is hydrogen or a salt forming ion. They may be prepared by hydrogenation of the corresponding oxo-compound any of the groups R to R<SP>4</SP> which are reduced by the hydrogenation being introduced after the reaction. The compounds of the invention may be used in pharmaceutical compositions mixed with a conventional carrier and used in the form of a microfine powder for insufflation in pierceable capsules of hard gelatine, in injectable form dissolved or suspended in a sterile parenterally acceptable liquid or orally administerable form as tablets, capsules and syrups. These compounds and compositions may be used to depress or stimulate the appetite and cardiovascular and/or bronchodilatory and/ or central nervous system activity and also to inhibit certain antibody/antigen reactions.
