Abstract

1360075 Mounting flying heads RCA CORPORATION 1 Dec 1971 [7 Dec 1970] 55712/71 Heading G5R A resilient mount 2 for a flying head includes a transducer-mounting portion 6 connected to a frame 4 by two resilient, generally Z-shaped elongated members 12, 14 extending between one end 7 of the portion 6 and opposite frame portions 8, 10, and by an elongated resilient member 22 extending from the opposite end 20 of the position 6, the members 12, 14 and 22 forming a parallelogram linkage, Fig. 3 (not shown). A head core 36, Fig. 2, is mounted through a slot in the portion 6 and through a slot 42 of a pad member 44 which is secured to the portion 6 to render the portion 6 rigid, the transducing gap 40 being flush with the pad surface 46. The mount 2 is made from a single piece of non-magnetic material such as beryllium-copper or a plastics and is secured to members 32, 34. The pad 44 may be of non-magnetic ceramic.
