Abstract
136,001. Harrison, F. Jan. 11, 1919. Protractors ; squares.-An angle and surface-marking appliance for use in testing and trueing-up work comprises a table 1 having a plane top, a plate 2 at rightangles to the table top, and a slide 17 adapted to be set and secured at any required angle to the table top. The members 1, 2 are fixed, and the member 17 is slidably mounted on a bracket 16 which is integral with, or fixed to, a graduated quadrant 12 pivoted at 11 to a plate 4, which is interposed between the quadrant and the plate 2. The plate 2 is formed with a slot 3, in which lies the head 8 of a bolt 7 passmg through an aperture 6 in the plate 4, on which the head 7a of the bolt bears. The plate 4 is also formed with a slot 5 in which rests the horizontal portion 10 of a cruciform member, the vertical portion of which passes into a slot 9<a>. By this means, the plate 4, and with it the slide 17, can be adjusted so that the lower edge of the slide is always in contact with the edge of the table top. The quadrant has a slot 13 through which passes a clamping-screw 14, and its edge is graduated in degrees, the edge of the plate 4 being marked with a vernier. For use with work having a double-angled end, a packing-piece is provided consisting of two plane members 19, Fig. 10, which can be set at any desired angle to each other. One of these members is laid against the plate 2, and the other against the work.
