1359820 Electrostatic carriers AGFA-GEVAERT 30 Dec 1971 [30 Dec 1970 8 June 1971] 18254/73 and 18255/73 Divided out of 1359818 Heading B2E An electrostatic carrier is produced by treating glass beads with a solution of an organic phosphorus compound and simultaneously or subsequently with a polymer containing reactive hydrogen atoms. Suitable phosphorus compounds are disclosed in Specification 1151141, e.g. zinc tridecyl phosphate. Various polymers are specified, including ethyl cellulose which may be applied as a solution containing an azo dye. The beads may be rolled in the treatment solution or the treatment solution may be applied to the beads in a fluidised bed. They may have a diameter of 0.5-0.8 mm. and may be pretreated with a degreasing agent (e.g. chromic acid).
