Abstract
1359734 Impregnating foams BAYER AG 22 June 1971 [24 June 1970] 29174/71 Heading B2E [Also in Division C3] Foam is impregnated with an aqueous dispersion of a polyurethane which in the homogeneous fully reacted form has a Shore A hardness (DIN 53505) of at least 5 and a pendulum hardness (DIN 53157) of at most 240. The foam itself may be a polyvinyl chloride, latex, natural or a polyurethane foam. Any polyisocyanate may be used to prepare polyurethane foams and numerous examples are provided. Additionally polyhydroxy polyethers may be incorporated. Impregnation may be effected by alternate compression and relaxation. Drying may be effected by wringing out and heating at 130‹C for ¢ hour. Fireproofing effects can be achieved by incorporation of polymethylene urea, antimony compounds, red phosphorous and other fireretarding fillers.
