Abstract

1359460 Aqueous inorganic solutions IMI REFINERS Ltd 21 Dec 1971 [3 Dec 1970] 57503/70 Heading C1A [Also in Division C7] A method of treating such material as calcined mineral concentrates, furnace residues, flue dusts, glavanizers' ashes and dross comprises washing the comminuted material in water or dilute aqueous alkali metal carbonate or bicarbonate solution to reduce the amount of halide in the material prior to leaching the washed material in an aqueous acid solution. The carbonate or bicarbonate solution contains up to 10% of carbonate or bicarbonate and the washing is preferably carried out between 50 and 100‹ C., usually for several hours after which the sludge is allowed to settle and separated.
