1359422 Diphenylamine derivatives NISSO KAKO CO Ltd 31 Aug 1972 [3 Sept 1971 5 Nov 1971] 40443/72 Heading C2C [Also in Divisions C4 and D2] In Examples 1, 2, and 10, 4-hydroxy-2- methyl-4<SP>1</SP>-alkyldiphenylamines, in which the alkyl group is n-pentyl, n-octyl or n-butyl, are prepared by reacting 4-amino-m-cresol hydrochloride with the appropriate p-alkylaniline in the presence of zinc chloride.
