Abstract

1359005 Electro-therapeutic apparatus H LEUNER 24 June 1971 [27 Aug 1970] 29643/ 71 Heading A5R A device for use in relaxation therapy comprises sensing means such as 1 for detecting impulses from the human body connected via a control 2 and a transducer 3 to a stimulus generator such as 4 by which impulses are transmitted to the eye, ear or skin, said impulses being derived from respiratory excursion motion, heart or pulse beat, muscle action, or blood pressure. The sensing means may comprise an electrically resistive expansion band for detecting the respiratory excursion of a patient, a microphone or plethysmograph for detecting heart beat, a myograph for detecting patterns in muscle action, or a meter for detecting blood pressure. The control device transmits the signals received by the sensing device in the same frequency and/or amplitude in which they are received, and the signals are returned to the body from the stimulus generator which may produce ocoustic signals, electrical pulses, or signals from a Pulminary element 4. The intensity, and quality (i.e. wave length of light or sound waves) of the signals from the stimulus generator may be varied by the control member.
