Abstract

1358840 Polyether polythiol textile treating compositions CIBA-GEIGY (UK) Ltd and IWS NOMINEE CO Ltd 4 Aug 1971 [11 Aug 1970] 38716/70 Addition to 1278934 Heading C3R [Also in Division D1] Polyether polythiols prepared by condensing alkylene oxides with polyols and partially or fully end-capping the products with mercaptocarboxylic acids or with epihalohydrin followed by sodium hydrosulphide, are used as aqueous emulsions to treat synthetic fibres in the presence of heavy metal-containing catalysts. The emulsions are based on ethoxylated amine emulsifiers and sodium carboxymethylcellulose. Catalysts exemplified are copper sulphate, copper oxychloride, ferric chloride, ferric nitrate, ferric sulphate, cobalt chloride, ferric citrate, Cu/Na 2 and Fe/Na ethylenediamine tetraacetates, aluminium sulphate, copper nitrate, manganese chloride, Ni(BF 4 ) 2 , zirconium sulphate, antimony trifluoride and K 2 Cr 2 (SO 4 ) 4 .2H 2 O.
