Abstract
1358826 Filter with pressure indicator PALL CORP 19 April 1971 [11 Feb 1970] 28597/73 Divided out of 21566/71 Heading B1D [Also in Division H1] A differential pressure responsive signalling device for indication of clogging of a fluid filter assembly include a housing 57 having first and second fluid passages 68, 69 therein and being adapted to receive a removable fluid permeable means such as filter 52 between the passages so that differential pressure-responsive piston 110 is movable due to a predetermined pressure difference between the passages and cooperating with locking means 150 movable between a first position in which it retains the piston in an indicating position and a second position in which the piston is released to return to a non-indicating position, the locking means 150 being responsive to movement of the filter 52 from its position to release the piston (Fig. 3, not shown). In Fig. 4 the piston 110 includes a magnet which acts on an armature controlling a microswitch 109 in the fluid flow control circuit. In an alternative arrangement (Figs. 1 and 2, not shown) the piston magnet controls an indicator and can only be reset on release of ball detents on the removal of the filter which may be of woven wire mesh preferably of stainless steel or may be fibrous material such as fibreglass, asbestos or resin impregnated or coated material. The filter element may be cylindrical, conical, dished or plate shape.
