Abstract
1358708 Supporting conductors SPRECHER & SCHUH AG 19 Nov 1971 [19 April 1971] 53848/71 Heading H2C [Also in Division H1] A high voltage conductor particularly for an encapsulated high voltage switching installation comprises a central cylindrical conductor 1, a concentric ground sheath 2, insulating gas between the two, an insulating support disc 3 between the sheath and conductor 1 and trumpet shaped foils 6 of insulating material covering the disc 3. In a further form, Fig. 2, not shown, disc 3 is provided with tubular extensions having conductive inner surfaces to engage conductor 1. The foils prevent contamination of support discs 3 and are thin, (e.g. less than one millimetre for 200 kV) so that they do not distort the electric field. A method of determining the optimum shape of the foil 6 is described.
