Indicators actuated by floats.-A liquid-level gauge for tanks and the like is operated by the variations in the upward thrust of the liquid discharged by a hollow piston extending to the bottom of the tank. The piston 0 depends from a nest of elastic disks C enclosed in a chamber B filled with liquid and attached to the top of the tank A. The chamber B is in .communication through a conduit b with an elastic chamber F filled with liquid. A pointer I, working across a scale K graduated in accordance with the depth or volume of the liquid in the tank, is carried by a disk H which gears with a rack G secured to the chamber F. To compensate for the effect of pressure of the liquid, the ,chambers B, F and the conduit b on the pointer I, duplicate chambers L, J, and conduit l are provided with the terminal element J acting on the opposite side of the rack G. When the gauge is applied to a boiler, the gauge is submitted to the boiler pressure by providing the fluid-tight chambers M, 0 communicating by way of a tube q.
