Abstract

1358601 Opening and dispensing fibres JOHN LAING & SON Ltd 31 Jan 1972 [5 March 1971] 6182/71 Heading D1N An apparatus for dispensing fibres particularly into concrete mixers has a hopper 11 to receive fibres which are advanced and agitated by a wire screw device 29. A rotary propellor like device 15 ejects the fibres through a peripheral opening 14 (which extends over about 100‹ of the circumference), entrained air meanwhile escapes through a gauze screen 13. Ejector 15 is driven directly by e.g. an air motor 23 while agitator 29 is driven via a gearbox 22. (Ejector speed 4000- 6000 r/m, agitator speed 100-200 r/m). An air jet 28 prevents accumulation of fibres at the end of the ejection slot, see also Fig. 2 (not shown).
