1358586 Processing signals in well-logging operations MAGYAR ALLAMI EOTVOS LORAND GEOFIZIKAI INTEZET 16 June 1971 [17 June 1970] 28300/71 Heading G4H Apparatus and process for the processing of signals in well-logging operations comprises a multiplexer controllable to sample a plurality of input signals in multiplex or submultiplex modes and means to control the mode of the multiplexer, this means providing a plurality of multiplex control programmes and means for selecting one of these programmes according to a predetermined order of priority and in dependence upon data received. As shown, the multiplexer 1 has a set of inputs X for receiving measured data in the form of slowly varying functions of a single variable and a set Y for receiving data in the form of rapidly varying functions, or functions of two or more variables, or functions of a statistical nature. The output of the multiplexer 13 taken to an A/D converter 2, to an arithmetic unit 3, to a data sorter 4 and then to a store 6 and read-out 7. A tester 8 is provided for generating a test programme to input B of multiplexer 1. A control unit 5 receives inputs from the other units and outputs to them so that it controls each of these units and is controlled by them. The control 5 also has an input Z which controls the start of submultiplex cycles for inputs X and an input U which controls this for inputs Y. Since the control programmes provided at 5 are selected on an ordered priority basis with recourse to the data coming over, each multiplex cycle may consist of different submultiplex cycles, each sub-multiplex cycle itself being invariant between multiplex cycles.
