Abstract
1358482 Zinc oxide varistors MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 30 March 1972 15087/72 Headings C1A and C1J [Also in Division H1] A sintered body comprises a major proportion of ZnO, 0À05 to 20 mole per cent SiO 2 , and from 0À05 to 18 mole per cent in total of one or more of Bi 2 O 3 , CoO, MnO, BaO, SrO, PbO, Sb 2 O 3 , Cr 2 O 3 and NiO, each of the latter oxides not being present in an amount of more than 10 mole per cent. In a preparation, the components may be mixed, dried, pressed in a mould, sintered in air af 1000‹ to 1450‹ C. for from 1 to 10 hours and then furnace cooled. The mixture may be preliminarily calcined at 700‹ to 1000‹ C. and pulverized. The examples illustrate the compositions of many sintered bodies and their properties as voltage resistors.
