1358191 Hair grooming CINCINNATI MILACRON INC 15 June 1971 [15 June 1970] 27949/71 Heading A5B [Also in Division D1] Compositions, e.g. dyes, bleaches, shampoos and the like which are used in hair grooming and which can damage hair contain as a hair protective agent 0.1 to 20% by weight of: a) the unsaturated product obtained by the di-, tri- or tetra-merization of a monomeric ethylenically unsaturated C 12-26 fatty acid, or the saturated derivative of said product, the product or derivative containing 2 to 4 carboxyl groups per molecule or, in place of said carboxyl groups derivative radicals selected from: carboxyl salt; OH, NH 2 or amido either of which may be substituted with aliphatic or aromatic C 1-12 hydrocarbon radicals or substituents which form a 3 to 6 membered ring with the amino or amido nitrogen, quaternary ammonium wherein the nitrogen substituents are C 1-6 alkyl, C 1-12 alkyl ester, sulphate, sulphonate, phosphate, phosphonate and derivatives thereof containing substituents in the alkyl, aliphatic or aromatic radicals which are carboxy groups or substituting groups as defined above or, b) esters and polyesters of a polymerised fatty acid as in a) with a compound which is: i) a polyoxyalkylene ether containing 2 to 30 units in which the alkylene radical contains 2-4 C atoms; ii) condensation products of C 2-4 alkylene oxides and polyamines having 2-4 amino groups and containing 2-8 C atoms in an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic group or, iii) condensation products of ethylene oxide with a hydrophobic base formed by condensing propylene oxide with propylene glycol and having the formula: wherein a is 1-150 b is 15-17 and c is 1-150. Aqueous solutions of the above protective agents can be used as hair grooming preparations.
