Abstract

1358161 Cathode-ray tubes manufacture PILKINGTON BROS Ltd and W R SCORER 28 May 1971 [11 June 1970] 28380/70 Heading C1M [Also in Division H1] A face panel for a cathode-ray tube has a convex outer surface and an inner surface, the separation of the surfaces parallel to the axis of the tube remaining constant or decreasing on moving away from the axis with a more sharply curved rearwardly projecting flange for connection to the funnel part of the tube. The panel can be made by pressing glass between a plunger and a mould, the plunger and mould being respectively shaped to produce the desired curvature of the inner and outer faces. The inner and outer surfaces may be spherical, toric or of any other curvature and the inner surface may be planar.
