Abstract

1358158 Prefabricated room units Z BORYS 19 April 1971 [12 Dec 1969 29 June 1970] 60876/69 and 31475/70 Addition to 1226107 Heading E1A In a prefabricated room unit including traylike wall sections 1, 4 (see Fig. 6) adapted to form a container for transportation of the contents &c of the room unit as disclosed in Specification 1226107, the wall elements incorporate a load-bearing framework. The room units may be connected to end wall elements 10 by tongue-and-groove interengagements interlocked by rotatable locking means, see Figs. 3, 7 and 8 of the accompanying drawings (not shown) and likewise connected to tray-like ceiling elements 9. The steel framework is connected to lifting blocks 33 and is clad with a skin of glass-fibre reinforced plastics whilst plywood or other cladding is used for the floor, internal walls or ceiling. A flexible weatherseal is used between the joints and caps used to cover the locking means. The room units may be stacked to form a multistorey building with the loads transmitted between the framework and the blocks 33, connections between superimposed units being effected by means of projecting studs, twist locks or tie rods for details of which Figs. 15-18 (not shown) of Provisional Specification 1226107 should be referred to. The room units may be provided with cupboards, furniture and service fittings and ductings as deemed necessary. Again, the room units may incorporate corridors, balconies, verandahs, balustrades, stairways &c as required, see especially Fig. 12, 13 of the accompanying drawings and Figs. 11, 12, 13 of Provisional Specification 1226107. The services included may comprise drainage, mains water, rain water, electricity, telephones, lighting, wells hatches, and rails and a trolley for maintanence purposes, service junctions being also provided - see for example Figs. 10, 11 and 12 (not shown) of Provisional Specification 1358158. The room units may be furnished having living accommodation, hospitals or offices in mind or used to house electrical sub-station equipment, generators or air-conditioning plant, see for example, Fig. 9 (not shown), of the accompanying drawings. The room units may be mounted on foundation units and have their service fittings connected to corresponding fittings in the foundation units for details of which the drawings, (not shown), accompanying Specification 1358158, should be referred to. For innumerable other minor details concerning joints, services, dimensions, applications and constructional desiderata the Specification and various drawings (not shown), accompanying the complete and Provisional Specification 1358158 should be referred to.
