Abstract

1357816 Knitting-machines APPALACHIAN ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENTS Inc 21 Sept 1971 [15 Oct 1970] 43844/71 Heading D1C [Also in Divisions F2 and G4] A yarn run-in meter in a warp machine comprises a pulse generator driven by a warp beam and actuating a counter over a predetermined number of machine revolutions determined by a second generator driven by the pattern wheel. Several pulse generators 10-one per beam-are provided, and can be switched to the counter in turn. Each generator includes a wheel 19 driven by a wheel of the tension controller 12. The wheel 19 turns a disc 16 having slots etched on its surface via a shaft 16a, which includes a pin and slot lost motion connection 16b'-c', which prevents vibrations of the machine disturbing the meter. The disc is illuminated by a lamp 17, and its rotation sensed by a phototransistor 18. The transistor out-puts are fed to a counter. The second generator comprises a disc carrying a magnet and secured to the pattern wheel shaft, and a sensor. In an alternative embodiment the disc 16 is driven from the tension controller by a belt and expanding pulley (see Division F2).
