1357765 Insulated pipe DEUTSCHE BAUAKADEMIE ZU BERLIN 3 Dec 1971 56237/71 Heading F2P An insulated pipe comprises a pipe body or shell 1 and at least one layer of insulating material 3 surrounding (or surrounded by) the body or shell, the body and the layer being formed from the same foamed material (foamed polyuruthane, polymerizate of acril nitrite and butadiene styrene or glass) which in the insulation layer is less dense than in the body, the material in the latter having a compressive and tractive strength not less than six kilo-ponds per square centimetre. The insulation layer may be positioned between inner and outer bodies of relatively more dense material or two similar insulating layers may have the pipe body located between them. The insulating layer may be of progressively varying pore or cell size being of greatest pore or cell size in the centre region of the layer.
