Abstract

1356950 Moulding corrugated flexible tubes FOTHERGILL & HARVEY Ltd 23 June 1971 [23 June 1970] 30453/70 Heading B5A [Also in Division F2] A tubular blank is cold-formed to produce shallow corrugations, which are then accentuated by compressing the blank axially. The shaped blank is placed in a split mould 4 for heat treatment. Flexible bellows for an expansion joint are produced by ram- or paste-extruding, isostatically moulding, or compressing a tubular parallel-sided or frusto-conical blank from sintered P.T.F.E. The blank, placed on a mandrel, is radially compressed at spaced intervals by loops of cable, rolling, squeezing or clamping. The blank is then axially compressed and placed in the split mould 4 for heating in an oven. Metal collars are incorporated, and may comprise components of the mould 4.
