Abstract
1356943 Valves SOCIAL SERVICES SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 3 Aug 1971 [5 May 1970] 21535/70 Heading F2V A valve for controlling the flow from two pressure sources connected at 1 and 2 to a power operated artificial limb connected at 3 has a valve member 5 which moves from the position shown in which pipes 1 and 3 are connected to a position in which pipes 2 and 3 are connected when the pressure from the second source over annular area 21<SP>1</SP> is greater than the pressure from the first source over the area 21, 22, i.e. when the first source is exhausted. If a fresh source is connected at 1 the valve will switch over again when the second source is exhausted. In a modification the hollow ends of the valve member slide over tubular spigots to vent the ends of the chamber each time the valve member moves thereinto. Two pairs of fluidoperated valves are connected between the pressure sources to actuate an audible and a visual indicator when the control valve switches from one source to the other, one of the pairs of valves connecting the sources to atmosphere when the pressure thereof falls below a predetermined value.
