Abstract

1356908 Ointment base SYNTEX CORP 2 March 1973 [3 March 1972] 10169/73 Heading A5B An anhydrous ointment base comprises (a) 10-45 weight % of a C 16-24 saturated fatty alcohol, (b) 1-60% of a butane diol and (c) 10-85% of another liquid glycol or polyglycol. The composition may also include a surfactant and/or a plasticizer. It is particularly suitable for ointments containing anti-inflammatory steroids. Ingredients specified include buta-1,3- diol, stearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, behenyl alcohols, polyethylene glycol, propane-1,2 or 1,3-diol, dipropylene glycol, polyoxyethylene sorbitan monostearate, sorbitan monostearate sorbitan monooleate and carboxyvinyl polymers. Many seroids are specified.
