Abstract

1356855 Centrifugal compressors CARRIER CORP 24 June 1971 [3 Aug 1970] 29741/71 Heading F1C [Also in Division F2] A mechanism for actuating centrifugal compressor control means, e.g. an inlet valve 23, Fig.1, or a discharge diffuser valve, comprises a constant speed reversible motor 50 for adjusting the valve through a linkage 37, 35, 31 which causes the valve to move more slowly as it approaches its closed position. Power shaft 51 is driven by the motor through gear-box 45 and carries a radial arm 37 which receives a pin 36 projecting from a block 35 slidably located on a radial arm 31 attached to valve shaft 30. As the valve 23 is moved towards its closed position, the block 35 slides along arm 31 towards shaft 30 thereby causing a gradual decrease in the transmission of angular movement from arm 37 to arm 31. The range of angular movement of arms 31, 37 is controlled by limit switches (60, 61), Fig.2 (not shown). The motor is controlled by means sensing the demanded compressor load.
