1356540 Flavour INTERNATIONAL FLAVORS & FRAGRANCES Inc 24 Oct 1972 [4 Nov 1971] 48983/71 Headings A2B and A2C [Also in Division C2] The flavour of a consumable material, which may be a foodstuff or a tobacco, including reconstituted or homogenised tobacco and tobacco substitutes is altered by incorporating therein a thioester of the formula: where R 1 is alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkaryl, cycloalkyl, or alkenyl, and R 2 is alkyl, alkylthioalkyl, aralkyl, alkaryl, or aryl, R 1 containing at least 2 carbon atoms when R 2 is phenyl or an alkyl group containing 3 or 4 carbon atoms.
