Abstract
1356297 Buckles SOC ANON FRANCAISE DU FERODO 2 June 1971 [3 June 1970 18 Feb 1971] 18575//71 Heading E2A A safety belt buckle comprises a female buckle part 11 into which slides a male member 33 having a latch bolt 21 pivoted in a hole 36, retained there by a projection 30 and by a leaf-spring 34 which is wrapped round into the strap-hole 41, and having a latching nose 20 engaging matching holes 19 in the two members. The active end of the latch bolt carries a transverse pin 44 which engages in triangular holes 45 in a releasing lever 51. As shown in Fig. 6, this lever sits on the base of the male member, but it may be lifted, Fig. 7, depressed, Fig. 10, or slid forward, Fig. 9, or backwards Fig. 8, to lift the pin 44 and hence the latching end of the bolt 20 by pivoting at its end 29. Instead having the two inclined surfaces 54, 55 only a single one, which may be variously shaped, may be used, thus reducing the number of modes of operation (Figs. 11-14, not shown). In a modification Figs. 15 and 17, the latching buckle part is housed in a moulded casing 107, and the latch 103 carries a lever 135 by means of which it is released from the other member 150 by pressure at P. The part 150 may be an anchorage or a halt attachment and engagement is against spring (110).
