1356223 Colour television tubes HITACHI Ltd 28 July 1972 [11 Aug 1971] 35304/72 Heading HID A colour television tube of the type wherein an electrostatic focusing field is provided between a shadow mask 4 and the luminescent screen 3 which is connected to an anode button 11 by resilient connecting means secured to one end of an insulating member 8 the other end of which is connected to the shadow mask assembly, is characterized in that all connections to the insulating member 8 are effected by means of welded, brazed, soldered, or fused joints. In the arrangement illustrated L-shaped brackets 13 and 14a are embedded in the ends of a glass or ceramic insulator 8 and welded or brazed respectively to the frame 6 carrying the shadow mask 4 and the shield electrode 7, and to a pair of oppositely curved leaf springs 14b and 14c which bear on a wall coating 12 connected to terminal 11 and on the edge of the screen 3 to interconnect them. The coating 12 is shown as separate from the wall coating 5 but they may be connected. The two leaf springs 14b and 14c may be replaced by a single leaf spring the centre of which is joined directly or through member 14a to the insulating member 8. If the insulating member 8 is of glass, the metal supports 13 and 14a may be fused to it; if it is of ceramic its surface may be metallized and the metal supports may be brazed or soldered to the surface.
