Abstract
1355273 Rotary positive-displacement machines ATLAS COPCO AB 10 Oct 1972 [14 Oct 1971] 46711/72 Heading F1F [Also in Division F2] Roller bearings 21, 22, 23 and 24, 25, 26 support stub shafts 17, 18 of the rotor 16 of a positive-displacement vane-type machine, the inner races 23, 26 being a tight sliding fit on the stub shafts and the outer races 22 being axially held in end plates 12, 13, there being belleville springs acting between a shoulder 27 on shaft 17 and the inner race 23 so as to urge rotor 16 towards plate 12, whilst such movement of the rotor towards the plate is prevented by the abutment of an adjustable element 30 against the outer side of inner race 26, axial adjustment of element 30 serving to locate rotor 16 at a fixed axial position in housing 11. Element 30 is a washer whose axial movement is effected by a screw 31. Shoulder 27 is formed by a split snap ring on shaft 17. The screw 31 can be treated by anaerobic plastics glue so that after the required position is attained, the plastics glue will harden to permanently hold the rotor in position.
