1355208 Channel indicator MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 13 Sept 1971 [14 Sept 1970] 42642/71 Heading H3Q [Also in Divisions G1 and G5] A channel indicating arrangement for television receivers has a channel selecting means 11 (Fig. 2) with UHF and VHR channel positions and a rotary member 12 is provided with magnets 20 (Fig. 5) for attracting indicating members (15, Figs. 4 and 7b, not shown) carrying UHF channel indicating numerals at positions corresponding to the UHF positions. The channel number selected is viewed through a window (17, Fig. 3, not shown) in the front of the T.V. receiver cabinet (13). The rotary member 12 may be rotated by operating a button. The UHF channel selected can be adjusted by a preset knob 18 and the channel selector 11 can be operated manually or by a motor. The indicating members (15) may be in the form of plates marked with a UHF channel number. The magnets 20 may alternatively be arranged at opposite peripheral edges of the rotary member 12 (Fig. 6, not shown). The rotary member 12 may have a lower peripheral rim (21, Figs. 7a, 7b, not shown). The VHF numeral 14 or UHF indicia (15) which corresponds to the received channel can be illuminated by a lamp (22, Fig. 8, not shown) arranged within the rotary member 12. A rotary disc can be used instead of the drum type rotary member 12 shown. Distinction between VHF and UHF selection may be achieved by providing variations by means of colouration or light and darkness achieved by changing the amount of irradiation of the light source.
