Abstract

1355076 Acoustic tiles ARMSTRONG CORK CO 7 May 1971 [7 May 1970] 13847/71 Heading E1B An acoustic tile comprises a backing board 4, in contact with one face of which is secured a metal sheet 6 with circular or polygonal holes drilled or punched therein, before or after joining the sheet and board, so that openings extend through the sheet and into the board. The sheet is joined to the board by being bent closely round at least two edges of the board 4 by means of an applied force acting in the direction 12 on a bead 10 which tautened the sheet 6. The sheet metal may be steel or aluminium and the backing board may be a composition of expanded perlite, vegetable fibre and binder.
