Abstract
1354821 Reactors COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE 13 Jan 1972 [19 Jan 1971] 1682/72 Heading G6C A high-temperature nuclear reactor core subassembly comprises a graphite block 1 having channels 2 containing fuel 3 of annular shape and channels 8 for the passage of a coolant gas, e.g. helium, the fuel 3 being provided with an inner graphite can 4 inside which coolant flows and being placed directly, without an outer can, inside the channels 2. The fuel 3 is in the form of annular pellets and consists, for example, of an agglomerate of uranium oxide particles Annular graphite plugs 6, 7 support the fuel 3 and can 4 within the channels 2. The block 1 has a central channel provided with a groove 9 to enable the block to be handled by suitable means.
