Abstract

1354086 Razors GILLETTE CO 29 Jan 1973 [15 Feb 1972] 4481/73 Heading B4B A razor comprises a handle 2 connected to a plastics guard member 4, a pair of cam members 20, 22 mounted for pivotal movement between open and closed positions, a nut-and-screw means 28, 26 for effecting the pivotal movement and means 38, 40 for limiting further closing movement of the cam members beyond the closed position. As shown the handle and guard are made from an integral moulding of plastics material provided with a bore 8 through which a rod 10 passes for operating the caps 20, 22. The rod is formed with a thread 26 for engagement with the nut 28 which is provided with a recess 34 for accommodating an extension 30 of the handle. The recess and extension are formed with mating bevelled surfaces 38, 40 which are adapted to apply an increasing locking pressure on the rod when the nut is continued to be rotated after the caps have closed on the blade B; such locking pressure prevents distortion of the plastics guard. The end of the rod passing through the extension is formed with serrations to improve the gripping action.
