Abstract

1353698 Pit pumps ROCKET RESEARCH CORP 24 Feb 1972 [16 March 1971] 8583/72 Heading F1E An inflation aspirator comprises an axially moveable aspiration tube 18 which in the outer position fully opens inlets 62 for aspirated air and in the inner position closes these inlets. A base member 66 has a high pressure inlet 76 leading to aspirating nozzles 74 and also to a cylinder 22 the piston of which is loaded by a spring 84 and connected to the aspiration tube by a rod 90 and struts 94 so that high pressure tends to move the tube to the outer position against spring action. The base member 66 is connected to an intermediate section 36 having the inlets 62, which in turn is connected to a forward section 34 to which a device 16 to be inflated is secured and into which the tube projects. A diaphragm 24 is secured to the tube and to the section 36 and is exposed to the pressure in the device 16 so that as the pressure therein rises the tube 18 is forced rearwardly towards the inner position until the end 32 of the tube seats on a seal 78 whereby the device 16 is closed.
