Abstract
1353458 Gas fuelled lighters FLAMINAIRE 19 March 1973 [28 March 1972] 13166/73 Headings F4F and F4T A gas-fuelled lighter comprises a reservoir 4 containing liquefied gas, an expansion device 11, a gas-supply passage 12 with outlet valve 13, and a tubular burner 1 having in the vicinity of its outlet a bundle of filiform elements 2 arranged axially of and projecting beyond the end of the burner. The elements 2 preferably comprise parallel metallic wires which may be solid or hollow and serve to anchor the flame to the burner thereby resisting extinguishment of the flame by draughts. Ignition may be by a spark produced by means of discharge of a capacitor or a piezoelectric device, an electrode 5 being positioned at mid-height of the projecting part of the elements when the burner is in its raised operative position. The lighter casing has an opening 3 for the supply of combustion air to the burner.
