Abstract

1353254 Two part couplings THOMAS & BETTS CORP 11 Jan 1972 [11 Jan 1971] 1188/72 Heading H2E A flat cable connector comprises a base member 22 with a slot 38 for receiving cable 40, the conductors of which are respectively connected (e.g. by brazing, welding or soldering) to terminals 32 (male or female) integral with a web 58 in one operation. The connecting web 5 is then removed and the terminals are housed in recesses 30. A protrusion 44 acts as a strain relief member and may be provided with serrated edges (see Fig. 11, not shown). A housing 62 covers member 22, tabs and recesses, e.g. 56, 64 releasably locking the two parts together. Guiding apertures 76 are provided to accommodate at least a portion of an associated terminal 32. The parts 42 may provide alternating tongues and grooves to allow vertical stacking of the units (Figs. 10 and 13, not shown).
