Abstract

1353249 Polycarbonate esters BAYER AG 19 April 1971 [28 March 1970] 24543/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division C5] The examples describe preparing carbonic acid esters of the general formula in which R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are hydrogen or an alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl, acyl, aryl, alkoxycarbonyl or aryloxycarbonyl group, n is 2 to 300 and X is an alkylene radical containing 3 or more carbon atoms in the main chain and may be interrupted by one or more hetero-atoms or by one or more carboxylic ester, carbamoyl, urethane, urea or tertiary amino groups or X is a cycloalkylene, aralkylene or arylene group, by reacting diphenyl carbonate with (a) triethylene glycol optionally with trimethylol propane or 1,6- hexane diol, (b) tetraethylene glycol, (c) 1,6- hexane diol, (d) polyethylene glycol optionally with n-decanol and (e) the reaction product of adipic acid and diethylene glycol.
