Abstract

1353117 Clutch control W SCHAEFFLER and G SCHAEFFLER [trading as INDUSTRIEWERK SCHAEFFLER ohG] 14 Feb 1972 [18 Feb 1971] 6719/72 Heading F2C A clutch release thrust bearing comprises an inner race 3 which acts on the clutch release mechanism and an outer race 4 which is con nected to a sleeve 6 that slides axially on guide means by a thin walled sheet metal housing having an outer cylindrical surface 9 surrounding the outer race 4 and an inner cylindrical surface 10 surrounding the sleeve 6. The end of the outer surface 9 is flanged over into a recess 12 in the outer race 4. As shown, the end 13 of the inner surface is bent outwardly to form an abutment for the release fork. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the release fork engages a hardened sheet metal U-section ring (16) which is held against the housing (17) by an outwardly bent portion of the sleeve (6). In Fig. 3 (not shown) the hardened sheet metal ring (24) which is engaged by the release fork has an axial extension (29) which abuts the housing (28). In Fig. 4 (not shown) the housing (31) has an outwardly bent portion (32) and an outwardly bent end portion to form a recess which is engaged by the release fork. In Fig. 5 (not shown) a hardened metal ring (34) is provided between the release fork and housing (33).
