Abstract
1353063 Thermographic materials FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 16 June 1971 [16 June 1970] 28240/71 Heading G2C [Also in Division B2] An unbound layer of light-absorbing fine particles are provided on the surface of an object formed of, or having a surface layer formed of a thermofusible substance; the particle layer is irradiated by a laser beam in a desired pattern to fuse the thermofusible substance so that the particles adhere to the surface, the non-adhering particles being subsequently removed. The particles may comprise carbon black, titanium dioxide pigment, minimum or Brilliant Carmine 6B and the thermofusible substance may be polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride vinyl acetate copolymer and acrylic resin. Preferably the particles are originally held on the surface by electrostatic forces and are removed by a wet brush or cloth, water flow or suction.
