Abstract

1352875 Slaking lime OKUTAMO KAKO CO Ltd and D KUNII 8 April 1971 9052/71 Heading C1A [Also in Divisions B1 and B2] Quick-lime granules are slaked with steam in a fluidized bed reactor 3, provided with a water cooled heat exchanger 7 to maintain the temperature of the bed at the desired level (e.g. 105-300‹ C.), by feeding the fluidizing steam into the bottom of the reactor via line 11. Air is introduced into the exhaust steam comprising the slaked lime product as it leaves the reactor at 12 and the slaked lime is recovered from the exhaust steam, preferably at 70-280‹ C. using a cyclone collector 16 and a bag filter 18 connected in series. The quick-lime granules preferably have a diameter of < 1 cm.
