Abstract

1352684 Grinding S H SALTER 21 April 1971 [22 April 1970] 19370/70 Heading B3D A grinding machine comprises two relatively adjustable holders 14, 25, for a cutting member to be sharpened, 33, and a grinding wheel, one holder 25 being connected to a base 10 by a linkage allowing adjusting movement within a plane for moving the wheel and workpiece 33 into or out of contact in a fixed relative orientation. Coarse and fine grinding wheels 17, 18 may be mounted on a spindle of a motor 16, supported by one holder 14 for pivotal adjustment on a plate 12. The other holder 25 is attached to the base 10 by an intermediate member 24 and arms 22, 27 defining a double parallelogram linkage. The member 33 is supported on the holder 25 by clamping jaws 32, 32a adjustable on a post 29, a screw operated bar 59, Fig. 3, co-operating with a slot 58 of a collar 52 to look the post 29 in a chosen angular position, while a grub screw 61 allows vertical positioning. Lugs (45) of the jaw 32, Fig. 4 (not shown), serve to locate the member 33 for clamping, a magnet (not shown) being optionally provided to locate small workpieces.
