1352673 Knitting machines WIRKMASCHINENBAU KARL-MARX-STADT VEB 23 Nov 1972 54145/72 Heading D1C A circular knitting machine has a pattern drum 7 with cams 6 pivotable on pins 17 parallel with the drum axis through an acute angle between operative and inoperative positions in both of which they are held by a releasable locking device 18, the cams acting on selector elements 3 associated with elements controlling the knitting needles which elements 3 can be simultaneously lifted when the drum is to be racked on. Pattern drum 7 comprises a plurality of discs 10, 11 keyed alternately on a shaft 9. Discs 10 have bore for pin 17 and peripheral recesses 13 corresponding to each racking position while spacer discs 11 are cut away to form a recess 14 at each of these positions to receive cams 6. Cams 6 are held 'in position by removable rods 18 passing through bores 16 of these cams and engaging recesses 13. The slidable selector elements 3 are held between frame 1 and a displaceable rail 20 and engage the butts of jacks. Rail 20 has stops 22, 23 which co-operate with cams 24, 25 of a vertically displaceable bar 26 having a recess 30 in its lower end engaged by one end 29 of a leve 27 whose other end is engaged by a rod 32 whose lower end forms a curved follower which is engaged by a roller 36. Thus the elements 3 can be lifted from the drum during racking.
