Abstract
1352450 Measuring deflection of tube ATOMIC ENERGY OF CANADA Ltd 29 July 1971 [14 Sept 1970] 35669/71 Heading G4H [Also in Division G1] In a tube deflection and/or profile measuring apparatus, a beam 1 resiliently mounts a measuring probe 4 and a pair of fixed probes 2, 3 into contact with the internal surface of a tube 6, the beam being carried by an assembly constructed to be movable longitudinally inside the tube 6 and movement of the probe 4 being measured. As described, the probe 4 moves the core of a differential transformer 36 whose output is compared, in an amplifier 112 with the output of a reference transformer 45. The output of amplifier 112 is applied to a digital voltmeter whose output is applied to a tape-punch recorder 116. The punched tape 108 so produced is then fed to a computer 109 which may be analogue or digital which calculates the deflection y of the tube at a point x along the tube in accordance with the function y = # o x# o p<SP>K</SP>(x)dxdx.
