Abstract

1352269 Alumina electrolysis cells SWISS ALUMINIUM Ltd 31 Aug 1971 [1 Sept 1970] 40644/71 Heading C7B A plant for the production of aluminium by electrolysis of alumina in a molten bath comprises a plurality of cells electrically connected in series by connecting means comprising a plurality of cathode bus bars each of which connects one or a group of cathode bar terminals of one cell to the anode beam of the next cell; the cross-sections of the individual bus bars being such that each presents a similar resistance between the cathode bar terminal nearest to the anode beam and the mid-point of the anode beam, thereby limiting the horizontal flow of current within the cells.
