Abstract

1352265 Lamp holders POLAROID CORP 30 June 1971 [30 June 1970] 30656/71 Heading H2E [Also in Division G2] A flash cube socket 6 has a number of spaced fingers 78 extending from a base 76 to define a central space and spaces between the fingers, at least one of the spaces having a re-entrant portion due to a projection on the socket. As shown, the re-entrant portion is obtained by providing grooves 90 along the innermost surfaces of the fingers, which are thereby rendered non-symmetrical. This socket will not take conventional flash cube. A flash cube 5 has the lugs 30 of its cylindrical spindle 26 formed with non-symmetrical crosssections by cutting away a portion of each lug. This cube wil fit the socket of Fig. 5, as well as conventional sockets. The flash cube of Fig. 6 has improved light output; and can then be used with cameras having conventional sockets or with cameras designed to be used only with such a cube, and thus fitted with the socket described.
